Global IT titans are attempting to incorporate the power of AI (artificial intelligence) into their goods. And businesses such as OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, and Meta are vying to remain ahead of the AI pack.

We just learned about Gemini, Google’s most powerful big language model to date. The huge language model promised to be a step ahead of anything we’d seen before, thanks to its multimodal capabilities. While announcing Gemini, Google also revealed that Bard is now powered by the new LLM, with additional upgrades coming shortly.
According to sources, Google is developing a new virtual assistant dubbed Pixie, which will be powered by Gemini.
Google is developing the Pixie AI helper.
According to The Information, Pixie, which is powered by the fundamental model, is Google’s approach of ensuring a more customized Google Assistant experience. It may function as your personal assistant, utilizing data from Gmail, Maps, and other Google apps on your phone. Consider it your digital buddy who knows what your favorite coffee is.
According to the study, Pixie isn’t only there to answer inquiries. It is preparing to take on more difficult jobs, such as recommending the nearest store where you can get your hands on that must-have item you just photographed.
Pixie may also be included in the Pixel 9 devices, which are slated to be released next year.
On a similar topic, Google introduced the Assistant with Bard in October of this year. Pixie, on the other hand, appears to be a distinct AI helper than this Bard.
Google stated during the launch of the new AI assistant that it will be accessible for some chosen testers in the coming months. The Bard-powered assistant would also be a “opt-in experience,” according to the business.
Furthermore, Meta debuted its AI-powered eyewear earlier this year. And it’s possible that Google will follow suit.
According to reports, Google is developing on AI-powered spectacles that might serve as your AI buddy for seeing and doing amazing things. Google’s planned AI glasses might be beneficial for many people, from serving as a guide to instructing them on how to utilize tools, solve arithmetic issues, or even play a musical instrument.
Gemini is now accessible to developers.
Recently, the tech titan made Gemini available to developers and businesses so that they could benefit from the LLM’s abilities.
The Gemini Pro API provides AI tools, models, and infrastructure to developers and enterprises. This update gives Google Studio developers access to the Gemini Pro API, which is also available to companies via the Google Cloud Vertex AI platform.
Along with the Gemini Pro API, Google announced numerous additional models inside the Vertex AI ecosystem, expanding the toolbox for developers and businesses. Among these updates are an improved Imagen 2 text-to-image diffusion tool, specialized foundation models like MedLM tailored for the healthcare industry (available to Google Cloud customers in the United States), and the general availability announcement of Duet AI for both developers and security operations.
While Google encourages developers and corporations to use Gemini Pro for their unique apps, the firm also mentioned that the model would be refined in the next weeks and months. The first version of Gemini Pro is presently available via the Gemini API.
The present version of Gemini Pro has a 32K context window for text, with bigger windows expected in future editions. Although it is now free with some use restrictions, Google intends to implement competitive pricing in the future.
Gemini Pro’s Software Development Kits (SDKs) are available in a variety of coding languages, allowing new applications to take advantage of Gemini Pro’s features.
Developers now have free access to both Pro and Pro Vision via Google Studio, with a restriction of up to 60 queries per minute, making it perfect for app development requirements. Meanwhile, until the projected universal release in early 2024, Vertex AI users can explore the same models with comparable limitations for free.
In addition to Gemini Pro, Google has launched version 1.0, which includes Gemini Nano on the Pixel 8 Pro model, with Gemini Ultra set to arrive in 2024.
